Introduction

The Otorhinolaryngology Department is made up of specialists who provide medical and surgical treatment for disorders affecting the ears, nose and paranasal sinuses, larynx, salivary glands, the thyroid gland, the lateral skull base and the anterior skull base.

It also offers emergency surgical assistance in the A&E Department to patients from the assigned Area. It provides in degree education for students from the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry at the Bellvitge Campus of the University of Barcelona, and post-graduate education for the UB Doctorate courses. The Otorhinolaryngology Department has been permanently accredited to teach since the creation of the Residency programme to train specialists.

-Oropharyngeal cancer related to the human papillomavirus (in collaboration with the IDIBELL HPV Epidemiology Laboratory) -Immunotherapy in the treatment of head and neck cancer in collaboration with the Functional Head and Neck Cancer Unit (HUB-ICO) -Robotic Surgery in the treatment of oropharyngeal and larynx cancer -Surgical rescue in patients with Recurrences and Second Neoplasms -Resistance of tumor cells to Cisplatin: through the implantation of CDDP-resistant tumor cells in orthopaedic mice (In collaboration with the IDIBELL Chemoresistance and Predictive Factors to Tumor Response and Stromal Microenvironment group)
