Presentació
The Clinical Haematology Service of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) was established in 1996 as a spin-off from the Haematology-Haemotherapy Service of the former Bellvitge Health and University Town.
This service is responsible for the care of haematological patients, both oncological and non-oncological, in the South Metropolitan Health Region. It serves as a third-level referral center for approximately 1,200,000 adult citizens in the southeast of Catalonia.
The service is purely clinical and is closely related to the Cytology Laboratory of the University Hospital of Bellvitge and the Cytogenetics and Molecular Biology Laboratory of the ICO Badalona.
