What Defines Us?

Exceptional Functional Density Within a Single Site

Within a very compact area, highly specialised hospital care, specialist oncology services, emergency medical care, biomedical research, university education, primary and community care, and integrated social care coexist and interact.

Genuine Integration Between Healthcare and Research

IDIBELL is closely linked to the clinical activity of Bellvitge University Hospital and the Catalan Institute of Oncology, creating a continuous flow between research and clinical practice. The proximity between basic and clinical research accelerates the translation of scientific discoveries into healthcare applications while ensuring that research is continuously informed by clinical experience.

A Comprehensive Cancer Centre and a Tertiary Hospital on the Same Campus

The coexistence of Bellvitge University Hospital and the Catalan Institute of Oncology creates a centre of clinical and scientific excellence. Together with IDIBELL and the University of Barcelona, these institutions have been awarded the prestigious European accreditation as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

SEM as a Resident Partner

The presence of the Medical Emergency System enhances research, joint projects and specialised emergency medicine training, while enabling immediate territorial coordination.

A University Specialised in Health Sciences

The University of Barcelona, ranked among Spain’s leading universities in the QS World University Rankings, offers programmes in medicine and health sciences, nursing, dentistry and podiatry. Its presence contributes undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education, highly qualified young talent, and an immersive learning environment.

Synergies with the Biomedical Industry

This alliance has been consolidated at a time when the foundations are being laid for the development of the Innovation and Health BioCluster in the Granvia Bellvitge area. This initiative will strengthen the existing knowledge ecosystem through the arrival of a powerful biomedical industry capable of leveraging synergies with the institutions already established on the Campus.

Primary Care Integrated into Governance

GAPiC Delta contributes a community-based and preventive perspective, which is essential for delivering an integrated and longitudinal model of healthcare.
