HUB-ICO Unit receives CSUR reaccreditation for adult intraocular tumours

-
The integrated unit ICO L'Hospitalet - Bellvitge University Hospital de (HUB) has been reaccredited by the Ministry of Health as a National Health System Reference Unit for adult intraocular tumour care.

The Ministry of Health grants CSUR (Reference Centre, Service and Unit) recognitions with the aim of guaranteeing equity in access to quality, safe and efficient healthcare for people with minority or very low prevalence pathologies, offering healthcare coverage throughout the national territory. In addition, accreditation as a CSUR enables the integration into the European Reference Networks (ERN).

The HUB's Ophthalmology Service currently has five CSURs, reinforcing its status as a benchmark for highly complex ophthalmological care. Simultaneously, the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital - ICO L'Hospitalet integrated unit has been designated, for the first time, as a CSUR for child intraocular tumours. So far, both centres shared a CSUR for Hereditary Retinal Dystrophies (HRD).

The Bellvitge University Hospital has up to 12 CSUR accreditations from the National Health System in ophthalmology, surgery, multiple sclerosis, cross-renal transplant, osteoarticular infections and sarcomas.
