As part of its 50th anniversary activities, The Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB) has hosted the presentation and debate session of the report “Towards a new evaluation and service contracting framework based healthcare value”. The event is co-organised by the Catalan Society of Health Management, the Academy of Medical and Health Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands and the HUB.

Health managers, clinical managers and healthcare professionals, as well as students of Health Sciences and Health Economics, met at the HUB on 28 April to learn about and discuss the conclusions of a report drawn up by the Catalan Society for Healthcare Management's Value-Based Healthcare (ASBV) working group.

The report was presented by Jordi Valera and Tino Martí, coordinators of the document, with the moderation of Ramon Cunillera, manager of the Consorci Sanitari del Maresme and president of the Catalan Society of Health Management. The session was welcomed by Dr Montserrat Figuerola, territorial manager of the ICS Southern Metropolitan Area.

The document, entitled "Towards a new evaluation and service contracting framework based healthcare value", is an international review of 14 evaluation frameworks for health systems and health organisations. Based on the lessons learned, the working group has defined principles and recommendations for a new resource allocation model that promotes the value of clinical activities. This model should be based on valuable indicators, available evidence, credibility and transparency, while ensuring the sustainability of health organisations and promoting accountability.

According to the report by the Catalan Society of Management, “health organisations should "encourage professional leadership and patient involvement” to increase its value.

The Catalan Society of Health Management is an independent scientific society integrated in the Academy of Medical and Health Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands that works to share and generate knowledge, generate opinion, research and deepen the professionalism of management in health organisations and companies. It has more than 500 associated people, including management staff, clinicians, planners, researchers and industries.
