In addition to Dr. Figuerola, the meeting was attended by the mayor of L'Hospitalet, Núria Marín; GSMA CEO John Hoffman; the president of the Fira de Barcelona, Pau Relat; the executive director of Puig, Marc Puig Guasch; the executive director of BBES, Bisila Bokoko; the president of Grupo Planeta, José Creuheras; the president of Red Eléctrica Española, Beatriz Corredor; the president of the SEAT works council, Matías Carnero; the CEO of Smart Infrastructure in Siemens Spain and Portugal, Fernando Silva, and the CEO of AGBAR, Felipe Campos. The event was led by the journalist Josep Cuní.

Dr. Figuerola, who is in charge of the biggest company in L'Hospitalet given the number of employees, said that "one of the important things we have learned during the last health crisis has been the multi-institutional vision and the networking capacities". She also highlighted the importance of the health sector as an economic driver, insofar as it provides great added value not only in employment and economic investment, but also in knowledge and innovation.

"The pandemic -she stressed- has brought out more than ever our ability to seek innovative and adaptable solutions to challenges that are common to the public institutions that offer services and also to our supplier companies." The learning achieved, she said, "can become a lever in this new economy oriented towards digital transformation, sustainability, and, in our case, also towards the empowerment of patients and their families".

Dr. Figuerola has also highlighted the great relevance of the L'Hospitalet biosanitary cluster as a pole of development and attraction of companies with innovation capacity, not only in health research but also in areas such as health prevention, among others.
