Once completed the full refurbishment of the kitchen, which started a year ago, the new facility has started to operate. Since 27 February, it has been supplying 100% of the food for the canteens, and since 1 March it has also been supplying 100% of the food for patients.
The works have involved a complete refurbishment of the all the kitchen’s spaces, which have been rebuilt according to the processes used in a central kitchen service. The hardware equipment for cooking, the washing, refrigerators, the cold rooms, as well as the installations and finishes that provide service, have also been renovated.
The investment was of around 3.3 million euros, and the works - which required the occupation of the hospital's service yard with modules - were carried out in twelve months. At this point, all the work has been completed except for the construction of the 24-hour office for the HUB staff. This will be finished at the beginning of May.
The new equipment will significantly improve the working conditions, safety and quality of the hospital's kitchen service.
