Two Reading and BookCrossing points set up in the hospital

-

The project was created with the aim of improving the stay in our centre for outpatients and their relatives or visitors. From now on, they will be provided with books and magazines they can read during their stay. The first two Reading and BookCrossing points have been installed in the dialysis waiting rooms (floor -1) and in cardiology area (2nd floor of the tower).

In addition to reading in the waiting rooms, users can take books home and return them on their next visit, leaving them in the trays located in the new reading areas. Users can also bring books from home and add them to the reading points so that others can read them.

The reading areas, which meet the pandemic requirements of the Infectious Diseases Service, are intended to improve the patient experience in the HUB. By means of reading, it is possible to add content to the waiting time with a cultural activity, which, as it is individual, can also reduce the noise in the waiting rooms.

The project is promoted by the HUB’s Citizen Participation and Care Desk and has been sponsored by the apip-acam Foundation, which defines itself as a professional management tool for the collaboration with the Administration to solve vital human needs in an inclusive way. We would also like to thank Llibre Solidari Esparraguera for their donation of books for the new reading points at Bellvitge Hospital.

Hospital volunteers will be responsible for keeping the reading points in good shape and for informing the public on how to use them.
