From Tuesday, May 25, until the 31st, the XXII Smoke-free Week will be celebrated. The Bellvitge University Hospital adheres to this initiative, echoing the importance of leading a tobacco-free life that allows the prevention of pathologies caused by consuming. Each year the Smoking Treatment Unit of the Preventive Medicine Service begins treatment of a number of between 400 and 500 people.
Starting Tuesday, May 25, you will be able to see messages and activities prepared by the Smoking Treatment Unit of the Preventive Medicine Service in different contexts to celebrate Smoke-free Week. In addition to being able to see a screensaver prepared for the occasion, you will also receive an email with an exclusive survey for Hospital professionals about their relationship with tobacco. Any professional who needs help to quit smoking can ask the address tabaquisme@bellvitgehospital.cat.
Likewise, we will also post on social media. Each day of the Week we will publish a small survey on Twitter and Instagram with a question about tobacco and its effect on people's health. You can try to see what you know about this question and you can discover the correct answers on the same social networks. In parallel to this, we will also share short videos of witnesses on social networks who will speak to us in the first person about the process of quitting smoking.
The Smoke-free Week is an initiative of the Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine (semFYC) and CAMFiC in Catalonia and this year it is celebrating its 22nd. edition.
