Bellvitge Hospital pays tribute to the work of its female staff in the exhibition "Pioneer Women"

-

The exhibition "HUB Pioneer Women" brings together the experience of eight women who at different periods in the history of the hospital were able to explore new territories, to train so that they could take on new responsibilities, as well as to lead innovative processes of change in various areas of the centre's work, health and otherwise.

The most outstanding features of their professional careers are shown on large-format panels, containing both a current and an older photo of them and a QR code that links to a video in which you can see and hear how each one of them recalls her experience at the hospital.

Tenacity, rebellion against prejudices and stereotypes and confidence in teamwork and continuous training as a lever for change are some of the common traits shared by the eight, and many other women who can accredit their pioneering work at the Bellvitge University Hospital.

The protagonists of the exhibition are:

• Lala Juvé, promoter of computerisation and care standardisation programmes at the HUB and the Catalan Health Institute (ICS).

• Mª Carmen Octavio de Toledo, first woman to chair the Catalan Society of Anaesthesiology, Reanimation and Pain Therapy (SECARTD).

• Araceli Ortega, worked uninterruptedly from 1972 to 2014 in the Payroll and Social Security Service of the hospital, of which she was head.

• Susana Pacheco, the first woman to join the HUB's Maintenance Service.

• Rosa Ramón, 1st medical director of the ICS and the HUB.

• Anna Roca, 1st specialist in the Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Service at the HUB.

• Maria Tubau, 1st clinical nurse of Parenteral Nutrition at the HUB.

• Cocó Vilarasau, 1st coordinator of Dietetics and Nutrition at the HUB. The exhibition is installed in the main lobby of the HUB and it can be seen until November this year as part of the 50th anniversary programme of activities.
