In the first year of residency,
FSE-MIRs face a new stage, in which they will have numerous questions. In this space we try to resolve the most frequent doubts.

The welcome at the hospital is done together with all the new residents, and we will explain everything you need to know to start your residency, from how the hospital works, basic rules, emergency department procedures, CPR simulation, to the IT system. The first days of your residency are training days to get to know the hospital and your new colleagues.

Yes, we have our own Research Institute (IDIBELL) with facilities for residents. Additionally, as part of our transversal training for residents, you will be able to take part in the Research Pathway, which covers everything you need to know about Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Research.

Yes, we have a simulation center, SimHUB, where you will be able to train with high-level materials and customized scenarios in both basic and advanced technical skills, as well as non-technical skills such as communication, decision-making, and more.

You will do an average of 4 shifts per month, with delivery, being able to do, if necessary and always voluntarily, a 5th shift. You can also do Saturday shifts.

Most specialties start by doing duties in the Emergency Department, in the different Emergency modules, which are divided by medical/surgical pathology and by severity, with a team of motivated and highly professional senior doctors who will help you with everything you need.

Yes, at Bellvitge we work with on-call pools, which are teams of residents who usually do their shifts together. Bellvitge has 6 historical pools, and when you arrive, you will have your own pool, which will accompany you during the shifts, support you, and be your little family throughout the residency. You will never be alone!

Yes, after completing the residency, post-residency grants are offered to residents interested in research who present a research project.

Yes, both national and international external rotations are included in all the training tracks of the different specialties, to help you train in areas that complement your education at our center.

The hospital is very well connected. You can get here by metro (Hospital de Bellvitge station, red line) if you're coming from Barcelona or L'Hospitalet, or by bus or train if you're coming from other areas.

Yes, our hospital has a section of the parking lot reserved for hospital staff, and there are also free parking spaces next to the hospital.

No, it's very close, within the Barcelona metro network, and only 20 minutes from Plaça Catalunya.

Yes, in addition to your tutor who will guide and support you throughout your residency, you can count on the members of the Teaching Committee. You will also have the opportunity to be part of the Committee as a resident representative, if you're interested.

Yes. The hospital offers a series of cross-training courses for all FSE residents (in CPR, bioethics, clinical safety, radiological protection, research, psychosocial risk and much more). You will receive the program of this training at the beginning of your residency.
