As part of World Lung Cancer Day week, the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge and the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) will host the Lung Cancer Awareness Day for Patients on November 13. This event aims to offer support, information, and guidance to patients and their families.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in Spain, with over 23,000 deaths per year and 30,670 new diagnoses annually. In Catalonia, the disease also has a significant impact, with more than 4,600 new cases and nearly 4,000 deaths each year, highlighting the urgent need to provide support and resources to those affected.
The goal of the event is to create a space for interaction between patients, families, and healthcare professionals, where key topics such as the latest treatment advances, emotional support, respiratory physiotherapy, and nutrition will be discussed. Specialized talks and dialogue sessions will be offered to address patients' concerns and improve their quality of life.
This event is free of charge and open to the entire community of patients, family members, and anyone interested in learning more about lung cancer and how to face it with support and knowledge.
