A team of professionals from the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid visited the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB) on Tuesday 7 June to learn about the efficiency in the management of the Surgical Block and the Central Sterilisation Unit (UCEST).

They were hosted by the HUB Processes Unit team.

This Tuesday the management of the Gregorio Marañón Hospital visited Bellvitge Hospital to see first-hand the work being carried out by the Processes Unit, as well as the deployment of lean methodology and the patient experience in the different areas and services of the hospital.

They were particularly interested in the exceptional work carried out by the staff in the surgical area and central sterilisation, especially the nursing team.

Since the unification of the surgical block and sterilisation, they have worked hard to manage the logistics of resources and materials, as well as to standardise procedures, ensuring efficiency and quality of care and continuous improvement.

During their visit, the Gregorio Marañón professionals were able to extract knowledge from the experiences and work developed over the last few years at the Bellvitge Hospital with the aim of applying it at their centre.

The HUB plans to have implemented the lean methodology in all departments of the hospital by 2023.
