Farewell ceremony for residents finishing their training at the HUB and at the South Metropolitan Primary Care

-
On Tuesday 10 May, the farewell ceremony and presentation of diplomas to the residents who completed their training period at the Bellvitge University Hospital and the South Metropolitan Primary Care took place. 85 residents from the hospital and 27 from Primary Care bade farewell.

Dr Montserrat Figuerola, Manager of the ICS South Metropolitan Area, and Dr Irene Cabello, Head of Studies at the HUB, congratulated the new specialists, who have completed training periods of between 2 and 5 years at the HUB.

The event featured the intervention of Dr Robert Memba, former resident of General and Digestive Surgery at the HUB and current coordinator of the Hepato-Bilio-Pancreatic Surgery Unit at Tarragona’s Joan XXIII University Hospital. Dr Memba presented the NGO +QSalud, which he founded in 2007 with the aim of promoting integral health in developing countries, with self-sufficient and sustainable projects, such as the development of a medical specialties system in Equatorial Guinea or dental and hearing health programmes.

Afterwards, two residents from the graduating class, Natalia Cornellà and Regina Vives, spoke on behalf of their classmates.

Dr Cristina Capdevila, director of the Bellvitge Hospital, and Mr Enric Tornos, Patron of the Fundación Mutual Médica, presented the Mutual Médica-Bellvitge Hospital award to the best resident 2022, to Dr Miriam Casellas, from the Pharmacy Service, as well as two runners-up prizes to Dr Carmen Castillo (Medical Oncology) and Dr Clàudia Llobera (Dermatology).

The ceremony, as always very emotional, ended with the presentation of diplomas and pyramids to all the new specialists.
