HUB

Bellvitge University Hospital boasts a long track record of teaching Specialised Healthcare Training (FSE). Since its inception in 1972, it has been integrated into the FSE programme, where the different specialties that make up the Hospital were gradually introduced. Our Hospital boasts 42 specialties with teaching accreditation, which currently include 334 resident physicians from medicine, pharmacy, psychology, biology, physics and nursing. It also hosts the training of 80 family and community medicine resident doctors from the Costa de Ponent Teaching Unit.

The large number of residents from other centres is worth noting, more than 190 a year, both Spanish and foreign centres, who come for training purposes.

The Mental Health Teaching Unit has been hosting nurses with specialised training in Nursing since 2011. On the other hand, nursing residents in the Family and Community Health specialty rotate within the different Hospital areas, as well as doing night shifts.

Access to Training Openings:

The selection system consists of a national test, in which applicants will get their total individual score obtained, i.e. the sum of what they obtain in a multiple-choice test and the assessment of their academic merit. The allocation of openings is done following the highest to lowest total score of each applicant. Check the updated information on the Ministry's website

Features of the Training Openings:

Specialised healthcare training is carried out in specially accredited Teaching Centres and Units, in accordance with the accreditation requirements established by the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare. Accreditation of the Centre and Units is requested by the entity that owns them, hence justifying that they meet the requirements referred to above. The accredited Centres are regularly subjected to a teaching audit process to assess their training quality.

Each year, the offered openings to start the training programmes is established according to the accredited teaching capacity, budgetary availability and social needs
